It spawns thoughts I have about the lack of process that occurs in rule-making, though, and I may have to write a bit about that before the week is out.

See, my problem isn’t the rules, it’s the good old boy workarounds and the lack of process or available meaningful information regarding rule making processes. I find myself getting annoyed and resistant when rules are made arbitrarily, when administrators (or occasionally faculty) fail to provide adequate information about the specifics of the rule – especially when the rule is being challenged.

But generally, I feel this rule post. Time and time again I see certain folks breaking rules they were involved in creating, regardless of the outcome, and with a sense of smugness and self-justification.
