Just so you know, Melanie--that is exclusively how I calculate grades: "Did she call me Dr. Jones, or not?"

Congrats Dr. Jones (which I have failed to call you all semester) This is great. And now you can read Eliot stories about the poop deck as a tenured professor. He will be proud!

Congrats! Now you can tell kids to get off your lawn with the reasonable certainty that it will remain your lawn for the foreseeable future!

Aw, thanks, everybody!

In the event, the thing I did last night to celebrate was go to sleep at around 8pm. Apparently I am very old.

Congratulations, indeed! (But boy, howdy, do I understand the anticlimactic thing. After waiting by the phone for hours the night I was supposed to get the word, I wound up finding out via the voicemail waiting in the office the next day.)

Congratulations, Jason!

My own anticlimax story is this: I received news that the president's committee had approved it when I was getting messages in the hours after Gabriel was born. At that moment, it hardly seemed important. Of course, it was also better than the alternative.
